An ‘Abraham Accords’ football team ready to challenge an international team next week

The United Arab Emirates will host an Abraham Accords festival at Expo 2020 Dubai next week, the ambassadors of the United Arab Emirates and the United States to Israel announced on Thursday.


The event — supposed to be the first in a series hosted by Morocco, Bahrain and Israel over the next few months — will feature a soccer match between a combined Israeli, Emirati, Bahraini and Moroccan team and a team made up of international stars from soccer.


Israel national team players Tal Ben Haim, Salim Tuama and Maor Buzaglo will play in the “Abraham Accords Classics team”. Athletes from other Abraham Accord nations also play on their respective national teams.

The “World Legends Team” will include Brazilians Kaká and Julio Cesar, Spaniards Carles Puyol and Michel Salgado, Argentinian Javier Saviola, Nigerian Jay Jay Okocha, Frenchmen Robert Pires, Bacary Sanga and Claude Makélélé, and Dutchman Clarence Seedorf .

Players and dignitaries will also enjoy a joint culinary event, as top chefs from Israel, Bahrain, Morocco and the United Arab Emirates prepare a festive dinner.
